Westboro

Richmond Road runs through it. The Ottawa River sits at the bottom of the hill. Everything else is detail.

The Neighbourhood

Westboro is the village stretch of Richmond Road between Athlone and Roosevelt. Bridgehead, Mountain Equipment Co-op, a long line of independent shops and a handful of restaurants that have outlasted three Ottawa restaurant cycles. The streets behind the strip slope gently toward the river, ending at the Westboro Beach pavilion and the Ottawa River Pathway.

The housing stock is unusually wide. You can still find a 1950s post-war brick bungalow on a deep lot if you are patient, and you can buy a 2024 architect-designed infill across the street from it. Doubles and singles dominate, with a steady wave of teardown-and-rebuild that has reshaped most of the streets between Tweedsmuir and Churchill.

It works for buyers who want the village feel without leaving the city. Walking commutes to Tunney's Pasture, fast access to the parkway, and the kind of after-school routine, ravine walk, ice cream at the Piggy Market, pizza at Bar Robo, that people stay in Westboro for two decades to keep.
